I have been railing against the Electoral College (and the Senate) as anti-democratic forever, and no one much cares. Turns out George Halvorson noticed–Matthew Holt
Kamala Harris is on track to win the popular vote by millions of votes in the upcoming election. Biden received over 11 million votes in California, while Trump got around 6 million, indicating a significant lead for Harris in the state. The large vote differences in key states like California and New York make it clear that Trump is set to lose the popular vote by a substantial margin. While the Electoral College results remain uncertain, it is evident that Harris will secure a significant lead in the popular vote. The American people are likely to protest if Trump manages to win despite such a significant popular vote loss.
It would be beneficial for the country if the electoral college results aligned with the popular vote to avoid such discrepancies. Election night will be intense, with the early results from California and New York foreshadowing a decisive popular vote win for Harris. The media should be prepared for this occurrence as the numbers are set to be overwhelmingly in her favor.
