Insight Living President, Bryan Ziebart, envisions a future where senior living residents can benefit from hyper-personalized genetic testing assessments. This approach could help identify indicators of Alzheimer’s disease predisposition and cardiovascular and diabetic risk factors. The Brea, California-based senior living provider plans to roll out a genetic assessment program later this year, aiming to improve care plans for residents and contribute to medical breakthroughs for future generations.

Starting small through a pilot program

Insight Living will begin with a pilot program involving 10 senior living residents across its portfolio. This controlled genetic assessment program will utilize cheek swab samples analyzed by partner Applied Ingenuity Diagnostics. The goal is to create a scalable approach for future genetic assessments, targeting early detection and prevention of age-related conditions.

By tailoring care and lifestyle programming based on genetic assessment results, Insight Living aims to provide better outcomes for residents. The data collected will be anonymized and used for ongoing research through partnerships with institutions like the National Institute of Aging and Stanford University’s Clinical Excellence Research Center.

Scaling dependent on multiple factors

Scaling the genetic assessment tool will depend on residents’ willingness to know their health risks. Insight Living offers the tests free of charge and ensures residents understand how their data will be used for research purposes. The goal is to raise awareness of pre-diagnosis conditions and allow for early interventions and personalized care.

Brain health informs value-based care efforts

Insight Living sees potential for adjusting brain health programming based on genetic assessment results, aiming to enhance value-based care efforts. By focusing on brain health, operators can reduce fall risks and hospitalizations, leading to better health outcomes and cost savings. The Integrated Senior Foundation, a nonprofit launched by Insight Living, will support brain health research and innovation in aging technology.
