In 2019, my business partner and I expanded our successful live comedy act, “The Pump and Dump Show,” by introducing new performers in Los Angeles and Chicago in addition to finalizing plans for a show in New York City. However, the Covid-19 pandemic brought everything to a halt, forcing us to cancel nearly 100 shows and face financial struggles. The emotional toll was significant, especially as I was also navigating homeschooling my daughter during lockdown.
During a camping trip with friends, I had a transformative experience with psychedelic mushrooms. This led me to explore microdosing with psilocybin as an alternative to my antidepressant medication. With no official guidelines available, I embarked on a self-experiment and learned the importance of starting with a low dose and moving slowly.
After experiencing significant benefits from microdosing, including increased presence and patience, I found myself in a car accident in 2021. Despite the traumatic event, I noticed that I was able to process the emotions more effectively and move past them with the help of microdosing. This contrasted with the difficulties my daughter was facing, as I struggled to find her a therapist until I connected with a therapist who also integrated shamanic practices.
Through a psychedelic journey guided by the therapist/shaman, I had a life-changing experience that highlighted the importance of communal healing. Inspired by this, I began to envision a platform where mothers could explore the benefits of microdosing. This led to the creation of “Moms on Mushrooms,” a concept aimed at providing support and healing for mothers through the use of psychedelics in a community setting.
