Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust has recently implemented a patient communication platform from Accurx to digitize their processes and improve efficiency. The system, which went live on 1 June 2024, serves multiple areas including Hull, the East Riding of Yorkshire, Whitby, Scarborough, and Ryedale.
This partnership aims to transition from paper-based communication to digital solutions, such as sending letters via SMS or email and converting paper questionnaires to digital formats. Julie Crockett, deputy chief information officer at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, believes this collaboration will enhance communication capabilities and streamline operations.
By embracing digital communication, the trust hopes to save time, enhance patient experiences, and maintain accurate records. Automated SMS appointment reminders and waiting list validations are among the features that will contribute to more efficient patient management.
In addition to improving patient engagement, Accurx will assist in service redesign to optimize appointment scheduling and create additional capacity. By identifying key challenges and implementing appropriate digital solutions, the trust aims to deliver a more consistent and effective healthcare experience for patients across the NHS.
Other healthcare institutions, such as George Elliot Hospital and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, have also implemented similar patient communication platforms to enhance their services and improve patient outcomes.
Through collaborations like these, healthcare providers are leveraging technology to streamline operations, reduce missed appointments, and enhance overall patient care.
