Heriot-Watt University Collaborates with ABHI to Drive Health Tech Research Innovations
Heriot-Watt University is teaming up with the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) to accelerate research and development in the health tech sector. A recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations will bring together over 150 academics from Heriot-Watt University’s new global research institute in health and care technologies to collaborate with ABHI.
This partnership aims to foster a culture of co-creation within the industry, leveraging established relationships with companies of all sizes. By adopting a ‘triple helix’ approach that involves academia, health systems, and industry partners across Scotland and the UK, the collaboration seeks to address challenges in health tech research and commercialization.
Steve McLaughlin, Vice Principal and Provost at Heriot-Watt University, emphasized the importance of working together to develop research, address regulations, and protect patient privacy. By combining their international networks, Heriot-Watt and ABHI aim to assist innovators in accessing global markets and attracting investments to Scotland.
The global research institute in health and care technologies at Heriot-Watt University aims to provide practical solutions to global health challenges through close collaboration with industry partners.
