Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust has successfully implemented Miya Precision from Alcidion to optimize bed management and patient flow across seven community hospitals in Worcestershire.
As the main provider of mental health and learning disability services in the region, the trust recognized the need for digital transformation in bed management processes. By deploying Miya Precision, the trust was able to seamlessly integrate clinical and patient data with the existing PAS system via the FHIR standard.
The implementation of Miya Flow provided real-time visibility of bed capacity, pending discharges, and discharge activity tracking, allowing for safe and effective discharge processes. Electronic journey boards help staff identify bottlenecks and take proactive steps to manage patient movement.
Additionally, Miya Access supported the trust in optimizing bed allocation decisions, further enhancing the patient journey. Associate director Kath Stanbra expressed positive feedback from staff regarding the enhanced operational oversight and real-time visibility of patient journeys.
Phase two of the transformation will include Miya Command and Patientrack electronic observation and early warning system, allowing for a seamless transition for staff. Alcidion managing director, Kate Quirk, highlighted the positive impact of Miya Precision on patient care delivery at the trust.
Recently, Alcidion partnered with Novari to deliver a comprehensive approach to patient journey management, further enhancing the services provided by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust.
