HeathNet Homecare platform looks to predict medication non-adherence
Patients who don’t follow prescribed medications not only strain health systems financially but also put their own health at risk. HeathNet Homecare is developing Adhere Predict, a solution powered by predictive algorithms in collaboration with machine learning experts from University College London and Brunel University.
Adhere Predict aims to identify patients most likely to struggle with medication adherence. The platform considers various factors such as disease severity, illness duration, therapy access, and education levels to create personalized predictions. These insights help intervene early to improve adherence and overall patient outcomes.
Ejike Nwokoro, head of patient insights and data strategy at HealthNet Homecare, highlights the annual £1 billion cost of medication non-adherence affecting 30% to 50% of patients, particularly those with chronic illnesses. The company’s patient support programs, often funded by pharmaceutical companies, address adherence challenges and enhance medication management.
With over 160,000 patients served in the UK, HealthNet Homecare leverages vast data from patient interactions to refine Adhere Predict. The platform’s early success in accurately predicting adherence behaviors underscores its potential impact on patient care. A Beta version is slated for release in late summer, with the official launch expected in November.
In addition to Adhere Predict, HealthNet Homecare introduced a phone app in August 2023 to streamline medication deliveries for patients. These innovative solutions reflect the company’s commitment to enhancing medication adherence and improving patient outcomes.
