A recent study has shown that a combination of trametinib and rapamycin can significantly increase the lifespan of mice when compared to using rapamycin alone. This research sheds light on the potential benefits of combining different anti-aging compounds to enhance their effects.
The study found that trametinib, an FDA-approved drug for specific melanomas, combined with rapamycin produced a significant increase in lifespan in mice. The combination treatment also reduced the development of tumors and inflammation in various organs, showing promising results for extending healthy lifespan.
In another study, fecal microbiota transplantation was tested as a potential treatment for Parkinson’s disease, as gut dysfunction is a common symptom in PD patients. However, the trial did not show significant improvement in symptoms, suggesting that further research and optimization may be needed to understand the role of the gut microbiome in neurodegenerative diseases.
