Some studies suggest that chewing gum can decrease appetite, while others show no effect or even an increase in hunger. Results on subsequent calorie intake are equally mixed, with one study even showing a decrease in healthy snack consumption, but an increase in hunger.
An international group of researchers found that using a menthol mouthwash decreased the consumption of Pringles potato chips, highlighting the potential of minty flavors to curb snacking. However, more research is needed to determine if chewing gum effectively aids in weight loss.
