A new digital platform has revolutionized healthcare by offering free online consultations with community pharmacists. My Local Surgery allows patients to easily book appointments with registered pharmacists for Pharmacy First consultations.
During these consultations, pharmacists can provide prescriptions and arrange for medication to be delivered within 24 hours. The platform covers six common conditions included in the Pharmacy First scheme, excluding earache.
My Local Surgery has received positive feedback from co-founder Darren Lingaloo, who emphasized the importance of pharmacists expanding their roles in healthcare. The service has already been successfully launched by The Village Pharmacy, and is now being rolled out nationwide to meet the increasing demand for digital healthcare services.
In addition to Pharmacy First consultations, patients can also access the NHS contraceptive service and private consultations with health professionals. Chief medical advisor Dr Adam Kirk stated that the platform is designed to simplify access to healthcare for patients and empower pharmacists to utilize their clinical skills for online consultations.
Online pharmacy service Pharmacy2U recently announced the introduction of a prescription order-tracking service, further enhancing the digital healthcare experience for patients.
