Digital Health Networks has recently introduced a council specifically dedicated to clinical safety officers (CSOs) as a means to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the realm of digital clinical safety. The CSO Council, established in July 2024, serves as a platform for individuals involved in clinical safety to exchange expertise and best practices. In light of recent reports highlighting patient safety concerns in the digital health space, such as incidents of serious harm linked to IT issues and underreported safety incidents related to online consultation tools, the formation of this council is timely and critical. Ben Jeeves, chair of the CSO Council, emphasized the growing awareness of clinical safety in digital health and the increasing presence of CSOs in healthcare organizations across the UK. The council, facilitated by invited members and elected leaders, aims to be a centralized hub for CSOs nationwide, providing a forum for collaboration, networking, and mentorship. Monthly meetings will feature discussions on relevant topics and presentations from guest speakers. The diverse membership of the CSO Council reflects a breadth of expertise and experience in clinical safety, ensuring a well-rounded and inclusive approach to addressing digital health challenges.
