Under the Federated Data Platform (FDP) contract, the parties involved have agreed to create a Digital & Data Academy, as revealed in a redacted contract published on 22 December 2023. The Academy will serve as a “centre of excellence” promoted by the Authority, the Supplier, and Digital Suppliers. A joint committee, the ‘Academy Working Group’, will be established to deliver the academy, with discussions on terms of reference, meeting cadence, and attendance of the Academy Working Group, which may include representatives of digital suppliers. The NHS awarded the £330 million FDP contract to US data analytics giant Palantir in November, sparking mixed reactions. The data platform will be owned and controlled by the NHS to unlock the power of NHS data for the benefit of local populations and to transform health and care services.
