Guest Blogger Jim Vanden Bosch continues to share his experiences living in a locked dementia unit. He has come to know and appreciate many of the residents, such as Howard, the jokester, and Lois, who is often seen with him. Richard, in a wheelchair, often calls for help and Janice, a tiny woman, prefers to eat alone. Marci, Mildred, and Hank also have their distinct personalities and experiences. Jim observes that the residents seem kind and accommodating but long for more meaningful engagement. He expresses his wish for them to be more involved in their own care and other activities. Stay tuned for more updates from Jim on his daily journals in the locked dementia unit.
