Northampton General Hospital faces potential operational risks due to lack of a go-live date for their maternity electronic patient record (EPR) system, according to a recent board report.
The University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group procured the BadgerNet maternity digital system in March 2024, but concerns have been raised about the absence of an implementation date for the system.
The board report highlighted the importance of implementing the new maternity information system to align with national standards and improve patient care and staff experience.
While the hospital is currently live with System C’s Careflow maternity solution, they plan to transition to the BadgerNet EPR in 2025.
System C CEO Nick Wilson expressed ongoing support for the hospital group and mentioned finalizing contractual agreements to determine the BadgerNet project timeline.
UHN is part of a growing trend of NHS organizations adopting the BadgerNet maternity system, with other trusts also gearing up to go live with the system in the coming years.
