Clanwilliam Tests Electronic Prescription Technology in Wales
Healthcare IT supplier Clanwilliam is currently testing its pharmacy system technology in Wales to support the delivery of an Electronic Prescription Service (EPS). This testing phase involves the company’s pharmacy system, RxWeb, being trialed at Sully Pharmacy and MW Phillips in Cadoxton, Barry. The successful implementation of this software will enable pharmacies across Wales to receive prescriptions electronically, making the prescribing and dispensing of medicines easier and safer for both patients and healthcare staff.
The EPS, led by the Digital Medicines programme in Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW), allows GPs and prescribers to digitally send prescriptions to the patient’s nominated community pharmacy without the need for a paper prescription form. Clanwilliam is one of several pharmacy system suppliers working on electronic prescription technology for use in Wales, with a phased national roll-out of the EPS planned to begin in summer 2024.
