Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) has been recognized with a stage 6 validation from HIMSS for their exceptional use of data and approach to data science.
The validation for HIMSS’ Adoption Model for Analytics Maturity (AMAM) took place on 24 May 2024, acknowledging the trust’s advanced analytics capabilities.
HIMSS assesses healthcare organizations’ digital maturity on a scale from stage 1-7, with 7 representing the highest level of achievement.
According to CHFT’s press release, the validation highlighted the trust’s innovative strategies in areas such as waiting list validation, health inequalities, and predictive modeling to enhance patient outcomes.
By leveraging data-driven validations, CHFT was able to significantly reduce follow-up appointment backlogs post-Covid, showcasing their commitment to improving patient care and operational efficiency.
CHFT’s chief digital and information officer, Rob Birkett, emphasized the importance of HIMSS’ patient-centered approach in driving meaningful data utilization within the organization.
Through collaborative efforts with the Health Informatics Service (THIS), CHFT implemented tools to support patients with learning disabilities, enhance care quality, and optimize hospital operations.
The trust’s use of predictive analytics has also proven instrumental in forecasting bed occupancies and staffing needs, further improving hospital efficiency.
CHFT is now gearing up for HIMSS validations for their electronic medical record adoption model (EMRAM) and infrastructure adoption model (INFRAM) in 2024.
Research has shown that digitally mature hospitals, like CHFT, often demonstrate better safety performance, underscoring the value of advanced data analytics in enhancing healthcare delivery.
