Busy Philipps first realized she may have ADHD when she accompanied her daughter, Birdie, to get tested for the condition. As the doctor ran through a checklist of symptoms, Philipps found herself identifying with many of them. She later discovered that this experience wasn’t uncommon among women her age, with many sharing similar stories.

After receiving her own ADHD diagnosis, Philipps reflected on her childhood and uncovered a forgotten medical record from third grade confirming the previous diagnosis. While she doesn’t harbor any resentment towards her parents for not pursuing treatment at the time, she wishes she had been aware of her condition earlier in life.

Philipps now manages her ADHD with a non-stimulant medication, Qelbree, which has significantly improved her symptoms and daily life. She has also learned to navigate her daughter’s ADHD symptoms by understanding their shared experiences and implementing helpful strategies, such as writing things down.

To support her mental health while juggling parenting and a career, Philipps prioritizes exercise, meditation, and grounding practices. These simple yet effective techniques help her stay centered and connected to herself amid life’s chaos. Ultimately, she emphasizes the importance of making mental health a non-negotiable priority, no matter how busy life may be.

In summary, Busy Philipps’ journey with ADHD serves as a reminder to prioritize mental health and seek effective strategies for self-care, even in the midst of a hectic lifestyle.
