BPPV: What is Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo? : The Hearty Soul

For many people, a simple movement of the head can trigger vertigo, causing dizziness, nausea, and a feeling of imbalance. Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is a common condition that is often fleeting but can have a significant impact on daily activities. It is caused by loose calcium carbonate crystals in the inner ear, and can be triggered by head injuries, infections, or age-related degeneration.

The Epley maneuver is a simple and effective treatment for BPPV, in which the crystals are repositioned to alleviate symptoms. Natural remedies such as ginger and Ginkgo Biloba can also help manage symptoms of vertigo. While BPPV is not preventable, it can be effectively treated with the right knowledge and techniques. If symptoms are severe or accompanied by other concerning symptoms, it is important to seek medical attention.
