A New Monitoring System to Guide Global Food Systems in Climate Change Adaptation
The recent COP28 declaration by over 150 heads of state prioritized supporting food systems in adapting to climate change. The Food Systems Countdown Report 2023, published in Nature Food, is the first effort to monitor changes in global food systems. The report identifies 50 indicators to measure how well food systems are performing, guiding investment priorities, policymaking, and future progress. The data will guide policymakers and donors in addressing vulnerabilities and ensuring sustainable, equitable food systems worldwide.
