The My Care portal is set to be rolled out across Northern Ireland, providing patients with access to their medical records online.
Designed to coincide with the transition to electronic patient records, My Care is part of the encompass initiative to create a single digital care record for all citizens receiving health and social care in Northern Ireland.
The portal was first implemented in the South Eastern and Social Care Trust in November 2023, with Belfast Health and Social Care Trust following suit in June 2024.
The Northern Health and Social Care Trust is scheduled to go live with My Care on 7 November 2024, while the Southern and Western Health and Social Care Trusts will launch on 8 May 2025.
Patients are encouraged to create a My Care account to access information such as medical appointments, medications, and test results at their fingertips.
By providing online access to personalized health information, My Care empowers patients to take an active role in their healthcare and wellness, according to Health Minister Mike Nesbitt.
Users can access the My Care app or webpage to manage their health information, and can grant proxy access to third parties if needed.
Dr. Dermot Hughes, the senior responsible owner for encompass, highlights the importance of My Care in the success of the overarching project, and its benefits for patients across Northern Ireland.
Additionally, the blood transfusion service in Northern Ireland migrated to Clinisys WinPath in June 2024, aiming to streamline its operations on a single technology platform.
