The Black Country Integrated Care System (ICS) is implementing a patient engagement portal (PEP) from Healthcare Communications to enhance patient experience, decrease waiting lists, and save costs.
By the end of 2024, the PEP will be introduced at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, following successful launches at other trusts in the region. This platform allows for digital appointment letters and attachments to be delivered to patients’ smartphones, enabling them to schedule, modify, or cancel appointments.
Healthcare Communications’ platform aims to eliminate paper-based processes, upgrade outdated systems, and reduce environmental impact. The Dudley Group NHS FT has already seen positive results since going live with the PEP in 2023, including a significant decrease in DNAs and improved patient feedback.
With plans to expand functionality with e-forms and waiting list validation, the portal is set to revolutionize patient engagement in the Black Country. This initiative is part of a broader effort to digitize patient interactions for over a million individuals in the region.
