Beverley Bryant, former director of digital transformation at NHS England and joint chief digital information officer at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS FT, is currently leading a rapid review of electronic patient record (EPR) plans at nine acute NHS trusts.
Commissioned by John Quinn, chief information officer at NHSE, this eight-week review aims to provide valuable insights and lessons to trusts at various stages of their EPR journeys, from development to implementation.
Starting in September 2024, the review involves collaboration with the chief executives of the trusts, as highlighted in a letter from Quinn and Vin Diwakar, director of the NHSE Transformation Directorate.
Quinn explained to Digital Health News that Bryant’s expertise and experience in NHS IT, particularly in successful EPR implementations, will support trusts in overcoming any challenges in their strategies.
Bryant, currently on secondment, emphasized that the focus is on offering guidance and support to trusts facing imminent go-lives, delays, or procurement stages, without disclosing specific trust names due to their critical status.
Upon completion of the review, each trust will receive a detailed report following Bryant’s visit, as she prepares for a new role as a chief digital officer at University Hospitals Dorset NHS FT in autumn 2024.
