According to the latest LeadingAge-Ziegler 200 report, National Senior Communities and the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society remain the two largest nonprofit senior living organizations in the country.
In 2024, National Senior Communities maintained its position as the largest senior living nonprofit despite a slight decrease in total unit count. Good Samaritan Society, affiliated with Sanford Health, follows closely behind with 13,280 units.
ACTS Retirement moved up to the third spot on the list by adding 744 units in 2024. Other notable organizations in the top 10 include Lifespace Communities, which fell in ranking, and Presbyterian Homes and Services, which maintained its position.
In terms of unit growth, Pacific Retirement Services saw the highest increase, with a rise of 971 units between 2022 and 2023. On the other hand, Good Samaritan experienced the largest decrease in unit count during the same period.
Overall, technological advancements in senior care have been on the rise, with a growing emphasis on home care services and the adoption of innovative technologies for monitoring and exercise.
