Pancreatic Cancer UK Launches Family History Checker to Assess Inherited Risk
Pancreatic Cancer UK has introduced an online tool, supported by NHS England, to help families who have lost a loved one to pancreatic cancer assess their risk of inheriting the disease. The tool, funded by NHSE, aims to improve rates of early diagnosis by identifying individuals with an inherited risk and referring them for regular monitoring through the EUROPAC surveillance program. Professor Peter Johnson, NHS national clinical director for cancer, encourages individuals to utilize the tool to receive necessary support and testing if indicated. The tool includes questions on family history, genetic conditions, and pancreatitis to determine eligibility for further assessment and monitoring. By reaching as many people as possible, Pancreatic Cancer UK hopes to save lives by detecting the disease early and providing timely treatment.
