An NHS project utilizing AI algorithms to enhance prescription deliveries is set to receive a portion of the £32 million UK government funding allocated for AI initiatives.
The Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology announced the funding in a press release on August 7, 2024, highlighting support for pharmacies nationwide in delivering prescriptions as part of the government’s effort to modernize the NHS.
Anteam, based in Nottingham, will collaborate with retailers and the NHS to optimize prescription deliveries through AI algorithms. The technology aims to streamline delivery routes, reduce carbon emissions, and improve patient experiences by maximizing existing resources.
Anteam celebrated the recognition on LinkedIn, emphasizing their expertise in AI and sustainable logistics. The announcement was welcomed by Feryal Clark, minister for digital government and AI, who believes AI will revolutionize public services and drive economic growth.
This initiative is among nearly 100 projects receiving government support to enhance productivity and economic growth through AI. While there is strong support for AI in patient care, concerns have been raised about potential funding cuts affecting AI use in healthcare as the government evaluates its investment strategies.
