Kootenai Health, a US healthcare provider, has revealed that data belonging to 464,000 patients has been compromised in a cyber attack.
The non-profit health system located in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, discovered the breach in March 2024, after noticing unusual activity disrupting access to IT systems.
Following an investigation, it was found that malicious actors breached the system on February 22, 2024, compromising sensitive patient information.
The hospital began notifying affected patients in August 2024 and is cooperating with authorities to hold the responsible parties accountable.
