Silver Birch Living, the largest owner and operator of affordable assisted living communities in Indiana, is set to expand its presence in the Midwest. With nine properties already in Indiana, CEO Jo Ellen Bleavins has revealed plans to develop eight to 10 more communities in Ohio in the near future. The company’s development arm, Vermillion Development, is poised to move forward as soon as financing is secured.
Specializing in communities with 100-120 units, Silver Birch Living offers private apartments with essential amenities such as kitchenettes, emergency alert systems, medication management, and assistance with daily activities. Shared amenities include outdoor spaces, community gardens, a library, salon, computer lounge, and dining areas. The company also provides a financing program to help residents offset the costs of care through Medicaid.
To make affordable assisted living a reality, Silver Birch is working on increasing Medicaid reimbursement rates in Ohio. The company’s future developments in Ohio will feature 120-unit buildings with various apartment layouts. While awaiting necessary approvals, Silver Birch continues to focus on enhancing its culinary program and incorporating resident feedback into its design decisions.
As the company looks towards future growth, Bleavins remains optimistic about their plans for expansion. With a focus on functionality and resident engagement, Silver Birch is well-prepared for the road ahead.
