Sunrise Senior Living has recently expanded its portfolio by adding 13 communities, with more additions planned for the third quarter of this year. The company announced this in a news release on Monday.
Based in McLean, Virginia, Sunrise has entered into a joint-venture agreement to manage two assisted living and memory care communities in the Chicago area with an undisclosed partner.
Furthermore, Sunrise is now managing eight independent living communities in the “greater Rocky Mountain” region, with three more communities set to close in the near future.
The company currently operates over 240 communities in North America, serving more than 20,000 older adults. Additional growth is expected, with new communities opening in Northern and Southern California, as well as in Canada.
Sunrise’s CEO, Jack Callison, highlighted their approach in understanding each market they operate in and customizing offerings to cater to different consumer segments. This strategy is supported by a team of senior living and hospitality experts.
Last year, Welltower sold its stake in Sunrise Senior Living, marking the unwinding of the Revera joint venture. In the same year, Sunrise opened its second luxury community in New York City.
