Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is set to introduce an innovative AI-driven patient portal, aiming to revolutionize patient engagement.
The Intelligent Patient Portal (IPP), developed by EBO in partnership with The Access Group, is scheduled to be operational between July and October 2024. This cutting-edge portal utilizes AI technology to facilitate two-way conversations with patients.
Unlike traditional portals with low adoption rates, the IPP offers a more interactive and personalized experience through its AI-powered virtual assistant. By leveraging natural language processing, the portal enables meaningful interactions and fosters empathetic engagement with patients.
Dr. Mark Worthington, Chief Clinical Information Officer at Lancashire and South Cumbria, praised the EBO patient portal for its advanced AI capabilities, emphasizing the benefits it brings to healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
EBO’s innovative solution will streamline patient-facing processes at the trust, enhancing care quality, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Patients will have access to essential features such as appointment management, viewing letters, completing assessments, and providing consent.
The trust’s commitment to leveraging technology for improved services aligns with the national push for digitizing healthcare. With the IPP as their digital front door, Lancashire and South Cumbria aims to create seamless and responsive patient journeys, ultimately leading to better health outcomes.
EBO’s intelligent patient portal is poised to empower additional trusts in 2024, following national guidelines requiring all non-specialist acute trusts to adopt portal solutions from September 2023. Joining the ranks of trusts launching patient portals, Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS FT and County Durham and Darlington NHS FT have already implemented patient engagement portals earlier this year, enhancing patient care and communication.
