Ascom, a leading provider of alerts and notification management systems, has secured a five-year partnership with Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) to implement its ANMS at the new children’s hospital in Dublin. The system aims to seamlessly connect clinical and non-clinical staff with various alarm sources within the hospital, improving communication and response times in critical situations.

Adrian Rath, chief technology officer at CHI, expressed excitement about the collaboration with Ascom, highlighting the company’s proven track record in delivering efficient alerts and notifications integrated into clinical workflows. By connecting the hospital’s systems in this way, healthcare professionals can make informed decisions promptly, ultimately enhancing patient care.

The ANMS will ensure that alerts are received by the right individuals, promptly addressed, or escalated when necessary. For instance, in medical emergencies like cardiac arrests, calls can be communicated and escalated using Ascom’s technology directly to staff members’ mobile phones, potentially leading to improved patient outcomes and enhanced emergency preparedness.

Paul McCall, managing director for Ascom UK and Ireland, emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting CHI’s vision for a modern, patient-centric healthcare environment. By working collaboratively throughout the partnership, Ascom and CHI aim to develop a communication strategy that enhances patient safety, improves the patient experience, and streamlines staff efficiencies.

CHI is at the forefront of transforming acute paediatric healthcare in Ireland and leading the development of the new children’s hospital project. Ascom’s partnership with CHI builds on its successful track record, including a contract with NHS Wales Informatics Service to develop a national critical care information system. Through these initiatives, Ascom continues to drive innovation in healthcare communication and technology.
