Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is set to roll out Zebra’s HC20 mobile computers as part of a project aimed at standardizing data capture devices and technology across the Acute Hospital Alliance.

A spokesperson from Great Western Hospitals informed Digital Health News that this initiative is a key component of a larger program to upgrade the digital infrastructure of the organization alongside Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.

By transitioning to Zebra’s HC20 mobile computers, staff will have improved access to patient medical records, enhancing efficiency and the overall patient experience while also reducing costs due to the volume discount in purchasing. This initiative follows a collective technology tender put forth by the three trusts within the Acute Hospital Alliance, with Dakota Integrated Solutions Ltd winning the bid and bringing in Zebra Technologies for hardware replacement.

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust has already deployed 250 Zebra HC20 mobile computers, featuring integrated scanners and Android compatibility, allowing for seamless operation of in-house healthcare solutions. The upcoming deployment at Great Western Hospitals is expected to involve a larger number of android devices, signaling further progress in the standardization project.

Stay tuned for more updates as the three trusts work towards implementing a shared electronic patient record system, enhancing patient care and data management across the alliance.
