Updates on King Charles’ health after his cancer diagnosis have been scarce, but music legend Lionel Richie just shared some positive news.
“Happily I can say, he is doing fantastic,” Richie told People at the King’s Trust Global Gala on May 2. Just days after Charles returned to public duties, Richie mentioned that he understands the King needs to take it easy and is pleased to see him back on track.
Richie, who is the King’s Trust Global Ambassador, shared that he is thrilled to see Charles stepping into the king role and has known him for a long time.
Buckingham Palace revealed Charles’ cancer diagnosis in February, following a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate. After starting treatments, Charles returned to public duties in April, visiting the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre with Queen Camilla to mark the milestone. Next on their agenda is hosting the emperor and empress of Japan in June.
Richie’s update indicates that the King is focusing on the present and future. The singer even humorously predicted getting a call after the gala to share feedback.
