Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust has recently introduced a cutting-edge digital data center at Dewsbury and District Hospital, marking a significant step towards enhancing the trust’s IT infrastructure and performance.
This purpose-built facility will accommodate approximately 300 servers for data storage and management, crucial for supporting round-the-clock digital systems that drive both clinical and non-clinical operations at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.
Replacing the outdated and space-limited previous data center in Dewsbury, this new digital hub promises improved system resilience, ensuring a safer and more secure digital service provided by the trust’s digital services department. This upgrade is anticipated to lead to fewer unexpected outages and significantly reduced system downtime.
According to Mat Ramskill, head of digital platforms at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, “Digital transformation is a top priority in healthcare, and our new data center will play a key role in enabling us to leverage cutting-edge technology to its fullest potential across the trust, ensuring seamless availability of essential services and applications.”
While many advantages of the digital data center may operate behind the scenes, the trust foresees a marked improvement in patient safety and experience, with fewer delays and cancellations. The increased capacity will also support the integration of new technologies and further development of existing services.
Kat Poole, associated director of infrastructure, digital, at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals, emphasized the importance of future-proofing the digital infrastructure to drive better patient outcomes and experiences through leveraging the benefits of advanced technologies.
