Unlocking the potential of digital innovations in combating cancer is a core focus of CancerX, a groundbreaking initiative established in 2023 as part of the Cancer Moonshot. By bringing together experts from diverse industries such as technology, healthcare, science, and government, CancerX aims to harness digital innovation to significantly reduce cancer-related deaths and enhance the overall experience of individuals affected by cancer.
CancerX, a collaboration between Moffitt Cancer Center and the Digital Medicine Society, serves as a hub for public and private innovators, driving advancements in digital tools to support cancer patients throughout their journey. By partnering with key governmental agencies such as the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH), CancerX aligns with national Cancer Moonshot objectives to foster partnerships that revolutionize cancer care.
As CancerX celebrates its one-year milestone, it reflects on its progress in accelerating digital innovations that combat cancer across three key areas:

- Pre-Competitive Evidence Generation: Initiatives to develop evidence, best practices, and value models to drive mission success.
- Demonstration Projects: Piloting novel approaches aligned with the mission to showcase value and promote scalability.
- Startup Accelerator: Empowering startups through mentorship and funding opportunities to address cancer care challenges.
Significant advancements have already been made across these pillars, demonstrating the transformative impact of digital innovation in cancer care. With ongoing projects focused on enhancing patient navigation programs and advancing data standards in oncology, CancerX remains at the forefront of driving change in the fight against cancer.
