Nottingham Maternity Services Enhance Patient Communication with CardMedic App
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have recently implemented the CardMedic communication app to improve care for individuals with communication barriers. The app, commissioned by the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Local Maternity and Neonatal System, aims to address healthcare inequalities by providing clinicians with pre-written scripts for various healthcare interactions.
Utilizing over 1,500 clinical scripts in multiple languages, the CardMedic app facilitates communication between healthcare staff and patients. It also offers resources in ReadAloud and EasyRead formats to support those with additional needs. Siobhan Buxton, maternity commissioning manager, believes that integrating CardMedic into clinical conversations will enhance patient experiences and support existing interpretation services.
Additionally, the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Local Maternity and Neonatal System plans to evaluate the impact of CardMedic over the next year and explore its potential use in non-clinical settings to further improve patient experiences. Dr. Rachael Grimaldi, co-founder of CardMedic, is pleased to collaborate with the Nottinghamshire LMNS in advancing maternity care and ensuring that all individuals receive equitable healthcare services.
