Kimberly Seals Allers created the Irth app to empower BIPOC birthing people to review their doctors, inspired by her own difficult birth experience. Despite careful research, she faced disrespect and bias. This led her to advocate for better maternal health practices, highlighting the racial disparities in healthcare. Irth serves as a platform for Black and brown birthing people to share reviews and hold providers accountable. By harnessing the power of consumer feedback, Irth aims to improve care and give agency back to patients, challenging the narrative of victimhood in Black maternal health. With a focus on prevention and empowerment, Irth is revolutionizing how we address the Black maternal health crisis.
