Sharon Santilli, a Certified Medical Technician at Priority Life Care, LLC, has been recognized as a 2023 Frontline Honors honoree by Senior Housing News.
To be selected as a Frontline honoree, an individual must be nominated by their peers. They must demonstrate dedication, high performance, and a passion for serving older adults and industry professionals. They should also advocate for the well-being of older adults and their peers.
Senior Housing News recently had the opportunity to speak with Santilli about her experiences in the senior housing and senior living industry.
SHN: What inspired you to join this industry?
Santilli: Being raised by elderly parents with dementia fueled my desire to work in this industry. I learned the importance of providing love, respect, and individualized care to all residents.
SHN: What is the most important lesson you’ve learned since entering the industry?
Santilli: Every resident has a unique story and deserves to be treated with empathy and understanding. It’s crucial not to judge based on appearances, but to truly get to know each individual for who they are.
SHN: What aspect of your job do you enjoy the most?
Santilli: Building relationships with residents is the highlight of my job. Learning about their lives, listening to their stories, and incorporating their experiences into their care brings me great joy.
SHN: What message do you want the public to understand about your work?
Santilli: Simple gestures of kindness, such as a hug or a smile, can make a significant impact on residents’ lives. I take pride in my work and find fulfillment in making a difference in the lives of those I care for.
SHN: What is something you wish leaders knew about your role?
Santilli: Working as a cohesive team makes all the difference in providing quality care. I want leaders to recognize the passion and dedication that caregivers like myself bring to our work every day.
