East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust has recently signed a contract with supplier Epic for an electronic patient record system. This decision comes after national approval of the trust’s business case and its board’s approval. The implementation of Epic’s EPR will bring together multiple digital systems used across several hospitals in the region into one cohesive platform. Dr. Dermot O’Riordan, a chief medical information officer at ESNEFT, commended the selection process and expressed confidence in Epic as the best solution for the trust. With a planned go-live date of October 2025, the trust is now entering the implementation phase of the project, with an investment of £190m over 13 years. The trust’s chief executive, Nick Hulme, emphasized the positive impact of this partnership and the excitement surrounding the implementation of Epic’s EPR. This contract signing follows a series of successful implementations of Epic’s EPR system in the UK, with several trusts choosing Epic as their preferred supplier.
