Childbirth is a life-changing experience that no one is truly prepared for, but one mother in South Dakota was particularly unprepared. Dannette Giltz rushed to the hospital for what she thought was a kidney stone operation, only to discover that she was actually giving birth to triplets on August 10th, 2019.
Giltz, who was familiar with kidney stones, initially assumed her severe back and side pain was related to the condition. However, she was shocked when the doctor informed her that she was pregnant.
From Twins to Triplets
After the initial shock, Giltz was surprised to learn during an ultrasound that she was actually pregnant with not twins, but triplets. The babies were born just four minutes apart, each weighing around four pounds.
“Still in Shock”
Giltz and her husband, Austin, were still coming to terms with the unexpected arrival of the triplets. Despite having two previous births, the unique circumstances of this pregnancy left them in disbelief.
Overwhelming Support for the Newborns
A fundraiser was organized to support the Giltz family and their three new arrivals, which garnered significant financial aid from friends, family, and even strangers. The community rallied together to provide baby supplies and necessities for the growing family.
“It’s amazing in a small town how many people will come together for stuff that’s not expected,” Dannette expressed gratefully.
Wish Come True
Despite the unexpected turn of events, Dannette’s 10-year-old son had always wished for siblings, and his wish came true with the arrival of the triplets. The babies, two girls and a boy named Nikki, Gypsy, and Blaze, brought joy and excitement to the family.
The triplets were born healthy, with two sisters already home and one still in the hospital but progressing well. The support and love from the community have been overwhelming for the Giltz family in this unexpected but miraculous journey.
