A clever hack to keep your house smelling fresh involves sticking cloves into oranges, as suggested by a woman on Facebook. Kimmi Charlton from Manitoba, Canada, has been doing this for a decade and swears by it. The citrus and spice aroma instantly transforms the room.

Known as pomanders, this ancient practice has roots in warding off bad smells and preventing infections. Charlton’s post on The Arctic Kitchen Facebook page garnered widespread appreciation, with many recalling holiday traditions. It’s a simple and nostalgic way to bring a festive scent to your home.

How to Make Your Own Orange and Clove Pomander

Creating a pomander is easy. Simply take a firm orange and insert dried cloves into it. For a stronger fragrance, cover the entire rind with cloves and roll the oranges in a spice mix for added scent. Hang them as decorations or ornaments for a festive touch.
