Here is a review of reviews on the health effects of animal foods versus plant foods. Instead of focusing on individual studies or reviews, looking at a review of reviews can provide a holistic perspective. In a recent video on beverages, it was found that plant-based foods generally have protective or neutral effects, while animal-based foods tend to have deleterious effects. For instance, whole plant foods consistently rate well, while animal foods, particularly poultry, show negative effects. The protective effects observed in dairy and fish consumption may be relative, as they may involve avoidance of other unhealthy foods. Plant-based omega-3s found in sources like flaxseeds and walnuts have been shown to be more protective for heart health than fish-based omega-3s. Ultimately, the majority of study compilations indicate that whole plant foods are at least not harmful, while animal products do not fare as well in terms of diet-related diseases. This analysis underscores the importance of incorporating more plant-based foods into our diets for overall health and well-being.
