Have you ever wished for a simpler, quieter, and more serene life as you navigate through the hustle and bustle of your daily routine? While this may seem like a distant dream for most of us, one couple in Finland has turned this dream into a reality.

An Island Cabin Oasis

Aleksi Hautamäki, a spacial designer, and Milla Selkimäki, a graphic designer, have created a self-sustaining and environmentally-friendly oasis on a rock island in the Finnish archipelago. This peaceful retreat, designed for both work and leisure, is a haven for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility.

Maximum Usage, Maximum Comfort

The couple’s two wooden cabins, totaling 750 square feet, are nestled on the 5-acre island in the Archipelago National Park of Finland. With 1500 square feet of deck space, these cabins are designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 people, maximizing space without compromising functionality or comfort.

Two Cabins, Many Purposes

The main cabin serves as the primary living space, featuring a common and dining area, a kitchen, bedroom, and lofted sleeping space. The second cabin functions as a workshop for the couple, with additional outdoor living space. Both cabins boast simple, natural designs that blend seamlessly with the island’s aesthetic.

Sustainable and Self-Sufficient

Powered by solar energy and equipped with traditional Finnish wood stoves for heating and cooking, these cabins are self-sustaining and eco-friendly. Despite their remote feel, the island is only a 20-minute boat ride from the nearest harbor.

The Rise of Sustainable Living

As housing prices soar, more people are embracing the concept of self-sustaining and eco-friendly living in peaceful locations. From tiny homes to floating gardens, sustainable living is on the rise worldwide.

Build Your Own Eco-Friendly Home and Garden

Creating an eco-friendly home is more achievable than you may think. With guidance from experts like Lamar Alexander, building a self-sustaining home can be affordable and environmentally friendly. Imagine living a simpler, more sustainable life surrounded by nature’s beauty.

Live the Simple Life

Embrace the tranquility of island living, where each day brings a sense of peace and harmony. For Aleks and Milla, this idyllic lifestyle is a reality. Who knows, it could be yours too?
