For individuals dealing with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), finding relief can be a challenging journey. Managing this chronic gastrointestinal disorder often involves trial and error. One common strategy is making changes to your diet, such as following a low-FODMAP diet. However, there are other effective solutions, including incorporating soothing teas into your routine.

Registered dietitian and neuronutritionist, Melanie Murphy Richter, shares some of the best teas for IBS symptoms. These teas can help individuals find relief from their symptoms one sip at a time.

Understanding IBS

IBS is a chronic gastrointestinal disorder that primarily affects the large intestine. It affects about 15% of the population, with women being affected more often than men. Unlike irritable bowel disease (IBD), IBS is a functional disorder with no visible inflammation or damage to the GI tract. Symptoms include bloating, gas, stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, or a combination of these issues.
