The Climate School at Columbia University’s campus is offering internship opportunities for a variety of administration and communications roles focused on sustainability-related projects. These opportunities are available to current full-time Columbia and Barnard students, including undergraduates, graduates, and PhD students. The summer internships are paid at a rate of $22 per hour, with a maximum funding for 260 hours (or 20 hours per week for 13 weeks). The internship period runs from June 1 to August 31, and students must be available to start around June 1. Students hired for these internships must be within commuting distance during their summer employment at Columbia and are responsible for arranging their own housing.

The application deadline for these internships is Sunday, April 7 at 11:30 pm ET. Decisions will be made shortly after the deadline. Interested students can find the full position descriptions below for specific requirements for each position. To apply, visit the application link provided. While students can apply for multiple positions, they must submit separate applications for each. For each position application, students will need to combine their cover letter and resume into a single file.

If students have any questions, they can contact Yana Zeltser at yzeltser@climate.columbia.edu. Some of the Summer 2024 Internship positions include:

1. Advancing Land-Based Investment Governance
2. Climate School-WE ACT Thriving Community Technical Assistance Center Program
3. Communicating Climate Science and Impacts of Environmental Stressors on Vulnerable Ecosystems and Communities
4. Coordinating Indigenous and NGO Participation in Climate Negotiations
5. DEI + Sustainability Summer Fellowship Project
6. Institutional Partnerships

Each position description outlines the specific objectives, anticipated tasks, and desired skills for the internship. Students will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience, learn new skills, and contribute to important sustainability projects. These internships offer a chance to work closely with experts in the field and make a real impact in advancing sustainable practices.
