Costa Rican Inspired Shrimp and Rice (Arroz Con Camarones) is a traditional Costa Rican recipe that is both easy and full of flavor. I first tried this dish during my visit to Costa Rica and fell in love with it. The key ingredient is the Salsa Lizano, which is a staple in Costa Rican cuisine.
To make this dish higher in protein, I like to cook the rice in bone broth for added flavor. The combination of shrimp, rice, and Salsa Lizano creates a delicious and satisfying meal that will transport you to the beaches of Costa Rica.

Here is how to make Costa Rican Shrimp and Rice:
Ingredients:
– Olive oil
– Onion
– Garlic
– Uncooked long-grain rice
– Chicken bone broth
– Sazon seasoning with achiote
– Bell pepper
– Cilantro
– Shrimp, peeled and deveined
– Salsa Lizano
Instructions:
1. Saute onion, cilantro, and garlic in olive oil.
2. Add rice, bone broth, and Sazon seasoning. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and cook on low for 15 minutes.
3. While the rice is cooking, heat remaining oil in a skillet. Saute remaining onions, bell peppers, and garlic until soft. Add the shrimp and cook until opaque.
4. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to the skillet with the shrimp. Add Salsa Lizano, stir until mixed, and garnish with cilantro.
Serve with a side salad and enjoy! This dish can be refrigerated for up to 3 days in an airtight container. For more shrimp recipes, check out my other recipes on the blog. Enjoy!
