A large-scale study published in The British Medical Journal demonstrated that vitamin D supplementation could lower the risk of major cardiovascular events, including heart attacks, in individuals over 60. Participants in the study who took 60,000 IU of vitamin D monthly experienced a modest reduction in heart-related incidents.
