One thing about me: I absolutely adore ice cream. Unfortunately, my lactose-intolerant husband shares this love, which can lead to some challenges in our household.
Due to his reluctance to acknowledge his lactose intolerance, I’m always on the lookout for delicious recipes that won’t upset his stomach. I’ve often found store-bought dairy-free desserts to be lacking in either ingredients or creaminess.
So, when I came across viral videos showcasing the Ninja Creami ($250) making non-dairy ice cream that people claimed tasted just as good as traditional ice cream, I was intrigued.
To conduct an ice cream experiment, my husband and I compared the flavor, texture, and effects of store-bought dairy ice cream with homemade dairy and non-dairy versions using the Ninja Creami. It was a dream come true to eat ice cream in the name of science!

For our experiment, we tried a Double Cookie Chocolate recipe using dairy ingredients, and a Strawberry recipe replacing dairy with coconut cream and agave nectar in the Creami. The results were decadent, flavorful ice creams with textures that rivaled traditional options.
The best part? The dairy-free version was undetectable to my husband, who enjoyed the ice cream without any digestive issues. A win for both of us, science, and all lactose-intolerant ice cream enthusiasts out there!
