Family holds a special place in our hearts. Life is about creating memories with those we love and cherish the most.
Written in ink, embroidered for life…
A heartwarming Thanksgiving tradition started by Deb Mills from Missouri involves guests signing a white tablecloth with permanent markers since 2000. This tradition has created 24 years of unforgettable memories.
“We are a blended family, and we set out to make some very special family traditions that are all our own,” Mills shared with ABC News.
Forever in their hearts
To enhance the tradition, a different marker color is used each year, including baby footprints and graduation drawings. The names are later embroidered with colorful threads to preserve the memories.
The tablecloth holds a special place for Mills, especially her late daughter Mary’s signature, along with other departed loved ones.
“The most important thing is we have the names, the signatures of those that have been dear to us through the years that are no longer with us,” Mills expressed emotionally.
With this tradition, Mills and her family have created a legacy of cherished memories to pass down to future generations.
She had it all figured out
Mills’ tradition has been embraced by younger moms and friends, showing that family traditions hold immense value that transcends generations.
“We are so blessed with such a great family,” Mills reflected. “Families are of extreme importance, and making memories and traditions that carry on to the next generation are so irreplaceable.”
