Water availability, urban heat island effect, and energy use are common concerns among desert cities worldwide. The AIPH Green City Conference, to be held on 5th and 6th March 2024 at Expo 2023 Doha Qatar, will highlight innovative urban greening strategies for arid zones. Organized by AIPH with the support of Host Expo 2023 Doha Qatar and Headline Sponsor Biblo, the Conference will feature renowned speakers discussing ‘city greening solutions for arid environments’.
Prof. David Simon, a leading expert in development geography, will kick off the event, discussing sustainable cities and communities. Followed by Kishor Rajhansa, COO of the Global Carbon Council, who will share insights on carbon offsetting. The Conference will also shed light on regional initiatives combating challenges in desert cities, with speakers like Dr. Ali Al Jassim and Jala Makhzoumi discussing sustainability and green materials. In addition, innovative technologies for water conservation, like those developed at Manhat, will be explored.
Speakers from various regions will also present initiatives to address shared issues, such as urban heat mitigation, nature-based solutions, and AI integration for nature data access.
