Deodorant is a common everyday product that most of us use regularly. However, some deodorants, especially aerosol types, can be dangerous and even deadly. A father is now warning about the dangers of inhaling deodorant after his 14-year-old daughter tragically passed away from it.
14-Year-Old Dies From Inhaling Deodorant
Giorgia Green, a happy young girl who also had autism, would spray deodorant on blankets when feeling anxious for comfort. Sadly, this practice led to her accidental death at home in the UK. Doctors determined that inhaling aerosol deodorant led to her heart stopping.
“Inhaling large quantities of aerosols, not just deodorants, can lead to a whole host of life-endangering scenarios – from blackouts and breathing difficulties, to heart rhythm changes and sadly, death,” said Ashley Martin, public health adviser at RoSPA.
The Bottom Line
Aerosol deodorants can pose serious risks, as seen in Giorgia’s tragic case. Consider using non-aerosol odor control products for yourself and your children to avoid these dangers.
